Nat Col and the Kings is the combination of master guitar player Nathan Cavaleri and former Screaming Jets Drummer Col Hatchman. Their sound merges Nathan’s credible blues roots with the worldly variety of styles absorbed over the years, while Col injects the fiery rock’n’roll that is part of his energetic all or nothing style.

Most people will be accustomed to seeing Cavaleri with a guitar in his hand but this project will also see him at the microphone providing sensational lead vocals. Their debut, self titled, 5 track EP is out now on itunes. Separately these guys both have impressive resumes. Col Hatchman has well and truly cemented his reputation after years with The Screaming Jets and still holds the Guinness Record as the World’s Loudest Drummer.

Nathan Cavaleri has shared the stage with a list of artist that looks like a who’s who of the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame including B,B King, Bonnie Rait, Michael Jackson, John Entwhistle (The Who), Deep Purple, Jimmy Barnes and Diesel Nat Col and the Kings is a slight departure from what Hatchman and Cavaleri have released separately in the past but both describe it as the most connected they have ever felt to their music. When asked about his new project Nathan says “We've spent the last year developing under the radar.” We invite our friends to play with us when we want to jam.

It's a great way for our guests to vent creatively but also a great way for us to keep true to ourselves”.

Recorded at BJB studio’s in Sydney. With an impressive list of artists who have recorded in the space (The Presets, Silverchair, The Vines, Eskimo Joe, Wolfmother), they picked the studio because they said it felt like home “Everything from the people to the couches to the old school equipment. We needed a space that would best capture our live energy. We wanted to record everything just the way we play it on stage. As little overdubs as possible. As raw but as big as we could make it.

Produced by Cavaleri and engineered by Eric J, who worked on Weezer’s Red album with Rick Rubin (Red Hot Chili Peppers, ACDC, U2..). Lachlan Doley (Powderfinger, Jimmy Barnes) on Keyboards, long time friend Kenny Jewell on Bass, and backing singers Amy O'Brien and Anita Meiruntu to bring out the soul.

All the tracks were penned by Cavaleri. Having written in the past with the likes of Don Walker, Charlie Midnight (James Brown, Christina), Steve Diamond (Eric Clapton, Tina Turner) and Diesel, Nathan has taken everything he picked up from working with some of the best in the business and a subconscious garage filled with all his favourite Records, Tapes and CD's. Anything from Them Crooked Vultures to Lynyrd Skynyrd, Guns'n'Roses to The Rolling Stones, Dead Weather to B.B King. The final product is a solid mix of Blues, Roots and Rock.
