Saturday, October 30th, 2010 - SCRUM ALLIANCE
NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire) - In an effort to increase board transparency and encourage member involvement, the Scrum Alliance opened the doors of its October 27 Board of Directors meeting to the CSC (Certified Scrum Coach) and CST (Certified Scrum Trainer) and the entire Scrum Alliance membership community.

"Transparency is a great way to gauge where you are in relation to your mission," said Donna Farmer, Managing Director of Scrum Alliance. "Openness encourages us to stay on the straight-and-narrow, an external motivation to continue to do the right thing even if at times it has a negative appearance."

By welcoming all members to future meetings, the Board of Directors hopes to encourage more interest among Scrum professionals in issues impacting the industry. The open board initiative came from Mike Cohn, who recently took over Chairman of the Board duties for the organization.

"Mike's leadership was important in that he advocated a culture in which it was better to be open and understand the areas that need improvement, so that we can take steps to make things better rather than hide behind rationalizations for why certain things didn't work," said Farmer.

"I think all organizations have broken areas, so making those areas visible is critical to moving forward," said Cohn. "It's been refreshing to work with Donna these past few weeks. Her honesty and transparency are encouraging and big steps towards continuous improvement of the Scrum Alliance."
