Local residents are actively expressing their interest in Tea Tree Gully Council improving delivery of community services.
In the lead up to the November Council Election Mayoral Candidate and Modbury resident, Steve Angeli says he is experiencing community sentiment first hand. He believes that better governance and training will improve council’s relationship with the community.
“I want my council staff to be the best they can be. I will assist council staff to develop their customer service skills, and make sure that my people receive the best training possible to serve the needs of our community,” says Mr. Angeli.
Through regular review of council expenditure and delivery of services, Mr. Angeli is also promising to ensure that council debt is bought under control and that the community receives good value for money through delivery of health and education programs, transport services and use of infrastructure, including refurbishment of buildings and heritage locations.
“Good governance impacts on Tea Tree Gully councils’ ability to deliver community services and develop the area for a sustainable future. I will seek community consultation to ensure that council is spending money on programs and development that the community wants and needs,” says Mr. Angeli.
Failure by council to also acknowledge some community concerns is prompting residents to feel as though council is abandoning them. Mr. Angeli states that by working closely with the community all issues such as rising council rates, vandalism, public safety and lack of development in the area can be bought forward for discussion.
“People want to feel as though council values the contribution of its community members. Currently that feeling is lacking and residents are ready for change. If elected as Mayor it is my job to see that Tea Tree Gully residents and council staff can realize their full potential.” says Mr. Angeli.
Steve Angeli is standing for Mayor in the Tea Tree Gully Council Elections in November 2010. Steve is committed to delivering a sustainable Tea Tree Gully.
