The Technology Industry Association (TIA) is delighted to announce that Alan Thomas has been elected as TIA President at the TIA Board meeting on 21st October 2010.

Alan entered the technology industry 30 years ago as a telecommunications technician, moving through the ranks into IT management where he has remained. He has held senior sales and general management positions with Oracle, Alphawest, Marconi, Logical and Telstra.

During the Board meeting Donald Kay, Manager Don Alan was also elected as Vice President. Donald grew up with electronics and computers so the industry is close to his heart. He started an independent design house at the age of 24 in the garage of his family home. The company now employs 14 people, is growing strongly and has many successful designs under its belt. Donald felt the need to develop the industry as well as be a part of it and hence his long term commitment to the industry association.

Last week at the TIA AGM two new Directors were also elected: Tony Stevens, Engineering Manager, Minelab Electronics and Peter Chaplin Engineering Manager, Pacific Marine Batteries.
