Saturday, October 16th, 2010 - PrideWA
Members of Perth’s gay and lesbian community are pulling out all stops to ensure that the 21st birthday celebrations of PrideWA are an outrageous success.

With a theme of “21- Looking Through the Keyhole”, the 2010 PrideWA Festival is aimed at celebrating the rights and freedoms of lesbian and gay people living in Western Australia.

Organisers have called on the gay community throughout the state to participate proudly in 2010 Festival events which includes the popular street parade through Northbridge on Saturday 30 October 2010.

PrideWA Media Liaison , Mark Hamer said the Committee has plans to take this year’s parade to a spectacular new level.
“And we are particularly encouraging local community groups to come on board and be part of this years parade.

The Parade begins at the intersection of Brisbane and William Streets just north of Northbridge, then runs south down William Street, before turning right into James Street and finishing at Russell Square.

Crowds tend to gather along William Street near the Brass Monkey, and along James Street. Quieter viewing positions might be found further north along William Street.

Hamer said, Parade participants love to see an enthusiastic crowd, so bring along balloons, flags, streamers, or anything in the colours of the Rainbow Flag!

The pride festival and parade provides an opportunity for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer and other same sex attracted people to stand up and be counted as proud members of the local community.

Pride in 2010 is being strongly supported by “The Couch”, telecast on Foxtel’s Aurora Community Channel.

Parade volunteers should check out the pridewa website for more details.
