Hervey Bay, Queensland’s popular sea change Mecca, is set for a renewed real estate boom according to a local property expert.

“Hervey Bay offers a broad range of property choices to suit the budgets of most home buyers, with an entry-level three-bedroom house starting from around $250,000,” says Graham Cockerill, Principal, Raine & Horne Hervey Bay.

“If you have a slightly bigger budget, then it’s possible to buy a brand-new 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom house with a 2-car garage from just $379,000.

“With property prices at their present levels, and a wide range of stock available, now is the perfect time to invest in a holiday unit or for owner-occupiers to make the move to Hervey Bay,” he adds.

However it’s not only Hervey Bay’s real estate affordability that is proving a major attraction according to Mr Cockerill.

“We have an ideal climate and a range of wonderful lifestyle options that contribute to the town’s enduring appeal with families and sea changers,” says Cockerill.

“Hervey Bay has everything you need – great weather, good shopping, beautiful beaches and plenty of restaurants.”

The town is also a popular location for the fitness-minded. “Water sports are a common pastime courtesy of the Hervey Bay’s calm waters, while the 18km walk and cycling path winds around the waterfront from Urangan to Point Vernon is also popular with locals and tourists,” says Mr Cockerill.

The path links recreational facilities such as Burrum National Park, Arkarra Lagoons, the Botanic Gardens, and other parks, and playgrounds, and is rated by the RACV’s as one of Queensland’s 150 ‘Must-Do’ activities.

Also Queensland’s second fastest growing city with a population of around 50,000, Hervey Bay offers job growth, particularly in the building and development industry, which makes it attractive for younger families.

“A number of high-profile resorts such as the Mantra, Grange and Peppers generate hospitality jobs, while ensuring a consistent flow of tourist dollars to the region,” says Mr Cockerill.

“Visitors and locals are well served with direct flights to and from Sydney and Brisbane, and there is strong community support for this service to be extended to Melbourne as well,” declares Mr Cockerill.
