Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008 - Chancery Lane Montessori Pre-school and Child Care Centre

Parents forced to make the choice between long day care or pre-school education for their children will be delighted to discover the opening of a new child care centre within Adelaide’s CBD.

Chancery Lane Montessori Pre-School and Child Care Centre is a collaborative endeavour between JSC Montessori Pre-Schools and St. Aloysius College that will present parents with a new model in child care. In an Adelaide first, the centre will provide children with the best possible care and pre-school education in one environment.

Director Barbara Langford says, “Too often we have seen families having to make the difficult choice between finding secure, nurturing day care for their child or immersing them in the truly stimulating environment of our Montessori pre-schools.”

“We know that the cost of living in today’s society means that not all families can afford to send their children to two separate centres to receive child care in one and a pre-school education in another.”

Consequently, the directors of JSC Montessori Pre-schools have developed a new model and format that provides parents with a true alternative – ensuring pre-school educational programs are delivered by qualified teachers in a child care centre. This model ensures that eligible families are entitled to fee subsidy through the Commonwealth Childcare Rebates Scheme.

Co-Director Barbara Nache adds, “Chancery Lane will present parents with a refreshing alternative to the hurried, noisy and busy environments so often provided for children today.” “Chancery Lane Montessori Pre-school will be a calm and ordered place where children can discover how things around them interconnect. Our programs will help stimulate each child’s enquiring mind and nurture their social and intellectual development.”

Montessori education is a highly respected teaching methodology taught in over 100 countries of the world and based on the scientific discoveries of Dr. Maria Montessori. Current brain research supports the value of Montessori education which places particular emphasis on providing a child with the mental framework to help develop and assimilate knowledge. Educators recognise that the first 6 years of a child’s life are the most critical in setting the foundation for all future learning.

Chancery Lane Montessori Pre-School and Child Care Centre is the latest addition to the JSC Montessori Pre-School group of centres which have operated at various locations in Adelaide throughout the past 20 years.

The centre will provide full-day child care and pre-school educational programs for boys and girls aged two and a half to five years of age. Fee subsidy is available to eligible families through the Commonwealth Childcare Rebates scheme.
