WHAT IS IT?
"WELCOME TO A WORLD OF MY CREATION" - Freddie

"From the fresh young minds of Spencer Harvey, Benjamin Ward, Ash Bee and Lloyd Harvey comes a new Australian musical that will ignite your imagination, and set fire to your senses. A magical, musical experience for all ages."

The New Australian Musical Freddie and Eden present ‘Beautiful Things’ is a unique musical journey through the mind of an eccentric performer, seeking perfection in an imperfect world. In pursuit of the ultimate set of personas for their daring double act, the pair are forced to face their fears and realise their limitations. They wrestle with the inevitable separation of man and the gods and question the responsibility of a woman in pursuit of a forbidden knowledge. Will fear of the world of good and evil prevail over one man’s mind? Will a man seemingly destined to be alone be able to create love?

Freddie and Eden take us in to a world of beautiful things, only to force us to question the truth behind what might be beautiful and what is real.

NEW ORIGINAL AUSTRALIAN MUSICAL
In a theatrical world of classics and imported material, Australia is growing it’s own. Freddie and Eden Presents ‘Beautiful Things’ is an Australian born and developed musical with it’s world debut set to be in Sydney this September!

SYDNEY FRINGE FESTIVAL
The Sydney Fringe is taking off this year after the solid success of Fringe Festivals in Melbourne and Adelaide. The Sydney Fringe programmed Freddie and Eden Presents ‘Beautiful Things’ as a showcase of new Australian Musical Theatre.

MUSICAL THEATRE - SO HOT RIGHT NOW
With the success of recent revivals of “Phantom of the Opera” and “West Side Story” reaching audiences alongside new works like “Mary Poppins,” and “Wicked,” Australians are officially riding the wave of Musical Theatre. Audiences are flocking to theatres in numbers unprecedented for Australian Theatre! Freddie and Eden Presents ‘Beautiful Things’ joins the ranks of those paving the way for our own Australian Broadway.

CONTEMPORARY MUSICAL THEATRE
Freddie and Eden Presents ‘Beautiful Things’ introduces 22 new, exciting songs in to the theatre repertoire. With the show’s contemporary edge, this fresh collection of music will find appeal with and beyond the musical theatre enthusiasts.

YOUNG INITIATIVE
The creative team behind Freddie and Eden Presents ‘Beautiful Things’ is comprised of book writer and lyricist Spencer Harvey (26), Composer Benjamin Ward (24), performer and creative Lloyd Harvey (22) and performer and creative Ash Bee (24) (individual bio’s on following page.) REDEFINING INDEPENDENT THEATRE
Art for arts sake is a luxury that keeps most artists out of the arts. However, the creatives behind this show, raised funds, invested their own and built their art on their own back. This takes courage, conviction and innovation. Support artists who support themselves! Support young entrepreneurs!

SYDNEY BASED TALENT
Sydney Siders keep an eye out! Support local arts and keep them local. Show new artists that Sydney is the place to launch new innovative work!

Ash Bee (Eden)
Ash Bee is a versatile and motivated performer with advanced skills in dance, choreography, acting and vocal performance. Graduating in 2008 from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and Performance Studies, Miss Bee’s creative practice is informed by a range of artistic forms including contemporary dance, musical theatre, burlesque, cabaret, circus and performance art. Throughout her studies she performed in works choreographed by some of Australia’s best choreographers including Narelle Benjamin, Kay Armstrong and Sue Healey.

Lloyd Harvey (Freddie)
Lloyd Harvey is a seasoned vocal performer and actor with roles on screen, stage and in studio recording. He has been likened to a “baritonied rock-god” in a recent review by Australian Stage for his role as Tom Collins in “Rent” whilst others have called him a Buble styled crooner. Recently winning the best actor award at Short Sweet and Song for his portrayal of Walter in ‘The Charmed Life’ (2009). Lloyd’s versatility is heightened by his ability to rise to challenges and meet the demands that face his character or performance.

Spencer Harvey (Book and Lyrics)
Spencer Harvey has been a life long writer. Her early work in short stories gained her a number of awards but she has since been working as a screenwriter and playwright. At the age of 17 she was recognized by the NIDA Playwright studio as the youngest ever applicant that they had considered for admission. She was invited to be included in the studio 2 years running but due to extensive international travels she had been unable to participate until this year. As a partner in her own Production Company, Harvey House Productions, Spencer’s writing has been used in commercials, film and editorial. Benjamin Ward (Composer and Musical Director)
Benjamin’s musical career began when he was 3 years old, sitting at the piano teaching himself to play ‘Get me to the church on time’. Growing up in a musical family it soon became clear that music would play an integral role in his life. After many achievements studying classical piano and composition, including a solo tour in Japan at 17, Benjamin is expanding his musical horizons as an emerging solo artist, performance coach and musical director. Ben’s theatre experience includes ‘The Sound of Music’ (SPCC, 2001), ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ (SPCC, 2003), ‘Anything Goes’ (SPCC, 2005), ‘Beauty and the Beast’ (SPCC, 2007), ‘Cabaret’ (NUTS, 2007), ‘That’s the Ticket’ (2007), ‘Day Comes’ (2007), ‘The Taming of the Shrew’ (SOTG, 2007) and ‘A Midsummer Nights Dream’ (SOTG, 2008), ‘Midlight’ (Penny Presents, 2008), ‘Midnight’ (New Theatre, 2009).
