Melbourne-based integrated communications, digital, creative and management consulting agency, Ellis Jones, has won a Merit award from The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) 2016 Gold Quill Awards program.
Ellis Jones received worldwide recognition from IABC in the Marketing, Advertising and Brand Communication category for their work launching a new, Australian weight loss program, Impromy. This accolade follows two earlier awards Ellis Jones received, from the Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA), for their work with the Impromy program.
“Ellis Jones was challenged to overcome consumer and media scepticism around the weight loss industry, and clearly define and communicate the program’s differentiating factors and social purpose” “said Rhod Ellis-Jones, Principal at Ellis Jones.
The Impromy program, developed through CSIRO research by Australian biotechnology company Probiotec, was designed with a focus on positive health outcomes and supporting clinicians to tackle Australia’s growing obesity epidemic.
In Australia, more than 14 million adults and children are overweight or obese, with this number predicted to increase to 83% of Australian men, and 75% of Australian women, aged 20 years and over by 2025.
“The weight loss market is highly saturated with poorly differentiated products that promise dramatic results. As a result, consumers are often overwhelmed by choice, confused and highly distrustful of claims made by new market entrants,” Mr Ellis-Jones said.
IABC Gold Quill Evaluators look for award entries that are innovative and unique, where communicators are able to demonstrate the impact their work had on business goals.
Feedback from the IABC Gold Quill evaluators acknowledged that Ellis Jones achieved “fantastic results,” for Probiotec, through “excellent integration of the various campaign elements,” and “well executed communication design to cut through in a congested [weight loss] market.”
“With strategic communication management, Probiotec has been able to successfully launch Impromy in a very competitive weight loss market, “said feedback from the IABC Gold Quill evaluators.
By June 2015, 10 months after Ellis Jones launched the program, Impromy reported 18,000 members nationwide staying on their weight loss and health improvement program for around 8.5 weeks.
“This is a good solid award entry providing a comprehensive range of program elements produced to a high standard,” Gold Quill evaluators said.
As pioneers in the application of shared value, creating positive social impacts and measurable business returns, underpins all work by Ellis Jones.
“We design and develop systems to solve business problems, facilitate market entry, create efficiency and manage risks,” Rhod Ellis-Jones, agency Principal said. “Our agency is all about first understanding, then changing human behaviour to solve our client’s business problems, and to improve society in some way,” he said.
Ellis Jones is an integrated agency that covers everything from brand identity, marketing and public relations, to social media, web development and market research. “Artisans, our favourite projects, are those where we exercise the full suite of agency capabilities to bring an idea to life with memorable results,” Mr Ellis-Jones said.
IABC’s 2016 Gold Quill Awards program recognises business communication excellence globally, and is acknowledged as one of the most prestigious awards programs in the communications industry.
“Gold Quill winners are communication practitioners who are living testament to IABC’s mission, that communication can be a force for good in business and society. They deliver strategic impact for their organizations and clients, taking communication to the next level,” said aid Monika Lancucki, ABC, Chair of the IABC Awards Committee.
The Gold Quill Awards will be presented at an Excellence Gala, to be held on Monday 6 June, as part of the IABC’s World Conference in New Orleans.
