Wednesday, September 15th, 2010 - Connecting Up Australia
Australian nonprofit Connecting Up Australia (CUA - www.connectingup.org) has announced a mutual scholarship program for charities and nonprofits, in partnership with US nonprofit, NTEN (the Nonprofit Technology Network - www.nten.org).

The scholarships will cover virtually the full costs for two Australian charity representatives to travel to the US for NTEN’s annual Nonprofit Technology Conference in Washington DC in March 2011.

NTEN will provide similar scholarships for two US charities to attend CUA’s Connecting Up conference in Melbourne in June 2011. The scholarships will include return economy class airfares from the scholarship holder’s nearest major city in their home country to the conference venue, full conference registration, and a contribution of the equivalent of US$500 towards accommodation and meals (a contribution of up to A$3,000 per delegate).

Connecting Up Australia CEO Doug Jacquier, in announcing the scholarships, said, “This is an outstanding example of cross-Pacific cooperation between the leading technology-focused nonprofits in their respective countries. Holly Ross, the CEO of NTEN, and I are delighted we’ve been able to put this scholarship program together and we invite further contributions from companies and other donors so we can expand the program even further.”

Mr Jacquier said that his own organisation had benefited enormously from the knowledge they had gained from overseas colleagues and the cooperative relationships that have developed, especially the DonorTec (www.donortec.org) donation program linkage with US nonprofit TechSoup Global.
