Australian nonprofit technology donations service DonorTec is helping Australian charity dollars go further with the announcement of a new partnership with Xero, the easy to use online accounting solution.

Xero is a web-based system that provides a real-time view of an organisation’s finances at a glance. It is easy to see bank transactions and to generate invoices, reports and GST records. Because Xero is "in the cloud", it can be accessed anytime, anywhere in the world.

"In the nonprofit sector, it is more critical than ever before to make every dollar count," says Mr Doug Jacquier, CEO of Connecting Up Australia, which operates the DonorTec program in Australia and TechSoup New Zealand.

"DonorTec's members typically include the community service organisations, sporting groups, arts societies, environmental action groups and myriad hard-working volunteers that are the lifeblood of our communities.

“They are constantly asking us about adding quality accounting products to our offerings.  So, after pioneering our relationship with Xero via TechSoup New Zealand, we are delighted to offer uniquely discounted Xero online accounting services in Australia via the DonorTec program."

DonorTec is a software and hardware donation program for registered charities and nonprofit organisations. With key donors such as industry giants Microsoft, Symantec and Cisco, the program has helped save Australian nonprofits over $80 million on the normal retail costs of software and hardware.

DonorTec manager Simon Gee says that Xero has priced its accounting package well within reach of DonorTec's members.

"Xero is a brilliant addition to our growing list of philanthropic partners donating and discounting their products to nonprofits across Australia," Mr Gee said.  "The solution will bring lasting benefits, with ease of use being the key. We have already had several reports from happy Xero users who have converted from more complex, desk-bound systems.

"With its rapidly growing customer base in small business, we recommend Australian nonprofits take a serious look at Xero when next assessing their accounting needs.”

Nonprofit organisations wanting to take advantage of this offer need to register with DonorTec at and click the Xero sign-up link for a 25% discount on their first subscription.
