Angel Sounds is one of Perth’s highly acclaimed chamber music groups, showcasing the harp in many different lights, with music from the Americas, France and the land of the Celts.

This Sunday, Bronwyn Wallis of Angel Sounds will grace the stage at the Subiaco Arts Centre playing music from some of the world’s best harpists as part of the city’s free [email protected] concert series.

Bronwyn will play a selection of music written or arranged by harpists including John Thomas, Marcel Grandjany, Carlos Salzedo and Corky Hale.

Bronwyn said she lives and breathes the harp and is looking forward to performing at such a unique and intimate setting.

“Nothing on earth sounds quite like a harp,” Bronwyn said.

Bronwyn began playing the harp after receiving a scholarship to Churchlands Senior High School. After completing a Bachelor of Arts at The University of Western Australia (UWA) she commenced studying classical performance at the Western Australian Conservatorium of Music.

During her studies she participated in award winning chamber groups and premiered new compositions by Western Australian composers. Bronwyn completed a Bachelor of Music at UWA majoring in harp performance under the direction of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra’s Principal Harpist, Sarah Bowman.

In 2004 Bronwyn played with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra for Opera Australia’s acclaimed production of Wagner’s Ring Cycle. In 2005 she performed in the USA and Europe with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Bronwyn performs regularly with the Western Australian and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras.

Tickets are free and are available on the day from 1.15pm, with concerts starting at 2pm and finishing at 3.30pm, including a short break to enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine from the Subiaco Arts Centre bar.
