Will Studd, Cheese Master Class - 7 September 2010, 6pm-8pm, Lucia’s Pizza Bar
Jacqui Newling, Herbies Spices - 14 & 15 September 6pm-8pm, Lucia’s Pizza Bar
15 September 11am-1pm, Carclew Youth Centre, North Adelaide
Cheese industry hero, TV presenter and regular magazine contributor Will Studd will present an intimate cheese tasting tour of Europe on 7 September from 6-8pm. To be held at Lucia's iconic Pizza Bar at the Adelaide Central Market, 40 lucky guests will star in their own version of Cheese Slices, Will's popular TV show complete with tastings.
"Will’s knowledge of specialist cheeses and the people who make them is legendary" said Simon Bugeja, Managing Director of Lucia's Fine Foods.
We strive to offer cheeses that are out of the ordinary at Lucia's Fine Foods and our customers appreciate the range that Calendar Cheese has to offer. He adds "You don't have Will Studd to yourself for two hours everyday -it's really a very special opportunity to hear first hand about his favourite cheese making families across Europe".
Will's interest in cheese began three decades ago when he established a chain of delicatessens in central London. He migrated to Australia in the 80’s and set about fostering the development of artisan cheeses and campaigned to allow raw milk French cheeses to be sold into Australia.
We're also pleased to present Jacqui Newling from Herbie’s Spices in Sydney. She's going to hold a series of Spice Appreciation classes that help to demystify spices, dispel popular myths, and provide a better understanding of how spices can enhance your favourite meals. Jacqui provides comprehensive notes and some great recipes to take home. It's the perfect experiencial gift with father's day just around the corner.
"A Lucia's staffer attended Jacqui's Spice Appreciation course in Sydney and raved about it - she convinced me to bring Jacqui to Adelaide. It's a lovely ecperience to share with a parent or child - the two hours passes so quickly you get so engrossed in the tasting and history of spices" adds Simon.
A daytime session at Carclew on 14 September brings added value as Jacqui is a guest lecturer in Food & Culture for Macquarie University’s Anthropology Unit, and runs a series of Colonial Gastronomy programs for the Historic Houses Trust of New South Wales.
Jacqui has delivered courses for Herbie’s Spices for over a decade and is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu’s Masters in Gastronomy from the University of Adelaide.
Herbie’s Spices are personally sourced by Ian and Liz Hemphill and are renowned for their purity and quality and contain no fillers or additives, with each pouch being hand packed.
