Arts and cultural organisations deliver enormous value to our communities – but they can also deliver great value to business partners, says Corinne Hawke, Director Community Ventures.
A specialist in corporate-community partnerships, Ms Hawke will deliver a Masterclass in Brisbane on 22 April for a range of major arts organisations on The Keys to Successful Corporate-Community Partnerships, thanks to support from Creative Partnerships Australia.
The Masterclass, based on research with some of Australia’s largest national and global corporations, gives participants the business perspective on partnerships.
Ms Hawke says the keys to success are understanding why business partners, what they want from their partnerships, and understanding what to do to deliver partnerships successfully.
“It’s a very intensive day and we discuss many issues, such as engaging with business, how to negotiate for mutual benefit, what skills and knowledge you need, and how power impacts partnerships,” said Ms Hawke, who pointed out that delivering reputation benefits is critical to success.
Creative Partnerships Australia CEO Fiona Menzies said it was important for arts organisations to learn more about business and corporate partnerships in all their forms in what is a constantly changing environment.
“Arts and cultural organisations add enormous value to businesses, and learning how to engage and build relationships with partners and donors is essential to their survival,” commented Ms Menzies.
According to Lisa Barrett of West Australian Ballet who attended the one-day workshop in Perth last year, “The masterclass was extremely useful in strengthening our company to move forward with partnerships, and into the future.”
Community Ventures will deliver the Masterclass at the State Library of Queensland. For information on corporate-community partnerships contact email@example.com. For information on future workshops email firstname.lastname@example.org
