Thursday, June 17th, 2010 - The SMSF Review
The recently launched SMSF online resource centre, www.thesmsfreview.com.au has attracted over 700 new members in its first three weeks of launching.

Paragem Dealer Services helped introduce the website to the financial planning community in late May and Ian Knox, Managing Director of Paragem, has confirmed over 700 new members have joined up since launch, together with over 17,000 page views.

The site is being introduced as an online resource centre for SMSF Trustees and is an educational portal in line with the preliminary report of recommendations made by the Cooper review panel last month. Its point of differentiation is that it provides a central point of information on all aspects of SMSF activity including strategies, investment issues, education, technical support, and comparisons of service providers.

“The site has no product ownership and displays information that is aimed at self education and direction to best of breed strategies made available from some of the best minds in the industry “ said Knox. “The response thus far has been fantastic”.

The site membership is without cost and a monthly electronic email is issued to members with topical information and content. The site is unique in that it welcomes content from a variety of professionals in the industry and collates this into categories with a focus on relevance and quality. This is then accessed by Trustees and other members as a form of electronic library of information. New content is added each month, with significant additions planned for the coming quarter.

The site has restricted advertising and Knox says this will continue to be limited to a small number of service providers that are interested in supporting the educational nature of the service. “The site will be targeted to the accounting sector and also directly to DIY Trustees in the next phase of expansion“ said Knox.
