Wednesday, November 30th, 2005 - Imagination Corporation

Launceston software company, Imagination Corporation, today announced that it has been awarded a contract to provide 24/7 monitoring, management and support of Biovends product procurement software application and network.
Melbourne based Biovend provides automated product procurement and point of sales systems for large life science companies providing consumables to biotechnology research laboratories throughout the world. Biovends offering is underpinned by a sophisticated distributed database system that connects wireless vending freezers and touch screen kiosks that are positioned in laboratories.
The Australia wide software application and network which operates on a Java Runtime, Sybase, Windows XP and Microsoft SQL platforms, will now be administered and monitored from Launceston. Software monitors the network for events such as power outage on the freezers or temperature increases and when detected SMS messages are automatically generated and sent to the appropriate person for actioning.
Managing Director of Imagination Corp., Mr Jason Bresnehan, who is also a director of Biovend, said that whilst this is a modest software outsourcing contract, a 2003 IT graduate from the University of Tasmania will manage the software so it fits perfectly with the Tasmanian strategy to build smart IT jobs for graduates.
Mr Bresnehan said there is the potential for Tasmania to significantly increase employment by providing outsourced software application management. The fact that English is our first language and the fact that the close of business on the east coast of the US is opening time in Australia, gives Tasmania advantages over the lower cost software outsource providers such as India.
