Thursday, June 10th, 2010 - Pactel International
On 2 June 2010, Pactel International successfully completed installation of the new DVB-S2 ACM system hub in Hawaii. This upgrade enabled Pactel International to extend their Internet, Voice and GSM services into the Asia-Pacific, Australia and Indonesia under C-Band, due to a growing demand in those regions.

The new DVB-S2 ACM platform runs on Apstar-6 satellite. It is based on the state-of-the-art Newtec Elevation technology, designed for the transmission and reception of IP streams over satellite at rates of up to 133 Mbit/s in full compliance with the DVB-S2 standards. The platform connects directly to Pactel’s redundant backbone in Hawaii via Gigabit Ethernet Interfaces and is itself in a fully redundant configuration. It can now provide both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint satellite links.

“Pactel International has built a strong reputation in the Asia-Pacific region for providing expertise and quality for its customers,” said Serge Van Herck, CEO of Newtec. “We are proud to have supplied technology that plays such an important role in Pactel’s latest high speed satellite transmission platform“.

The upgrade allowed Pactel International to supply a continued quality of service to their customers by extending the existing services further to the Asia-Pacific, Australia and Indonesia on a more reliable, cost-effective platform. It also presented an opportunity for Pactel International to reach new markets in those regions, such as local telecommunications carriers, corporate networks and Mining, Oil and Gas industries.

Steffen Holzt, Executive Director of Pactel International said ‘We are pleased to establish a new platform, which will advance our abilities to deliver vital telecommunications services to our customers. We appreciate the trust our customers have in Pactel International and will continue to develop new products and solutions to strengthen our relationships further.’
