Australian made PVC fencing is being used to enhance safety in the conduct of race meetings in Victoria.

Using the same quality PVC employed by Queensland company Polvin Fencing Systems to win a major share of the post and rail fencing market Polvin's sister company, Proplas, has been awarded the contract to supply the new running rail and posts for the Mawsafe Barrier rail, a fence designed to ensure the safety of horses and jockeys.

The contract was awarded to Proplas by Global Barrier Systems which won the tender from Racing Victoria to upgrade all the race tracks in Victoria to the Mawsafe system.

Proplas makes the fencing at its Melbourne plant.

Polvin Fencing Systems managing director Les Hanslo said Proplas' proven manufacturing ability and use of the highest quality raw material secured the tender against stiff competition from overseas and local suppliers.

“We have spent the past four years perfecting our PVC formula to ensure it is the best available to withstand Australia's harsh UV rays, which are up to 3 times higher than most overseas countries.

“Global Barrier Systems chose Proplas because of its ability to achieve the same high quality found in Polvin fencing,” Mr. Hanslo said
