Caloundra, QLD: New Media Artist Jay Salton is running a fine art exhibition crowd funding campaign in January 2016 to help raise funds and awareness for people who suffer from Schizophrenia. 10 percent of each sale will be donated in the fight against Schizophrenia.
“Even though I am an artist that creates surreal and abstract worlds that bring my imagination to life in new and creative ways, there was a time I had no creativity and was even fearful of my own shadow.” - Jay Salton
Jay’s artistic pursuits started at a young age when he dreamed of creating worlds and realities of his own. When he discovered digital art he was given the tools to turn his childhood dreams into a reality, but all that ended when he turned to drugs at the age of 16, which inevitably spiraled him down the wrong path.
In his darkest hour he was lost and was diagnosed with schizophrenia at 18. Terribly freighted of the world, it wasn’t until his Uncle gave him a job at his glass studio that Jay found a slither of hope. Jay became an assistant glass blower learning a 2000 year old craft and finally found himself developing his passion for art again. Feeling the need to fill his excitement, Jay decided to return to his fascination of creating digital art, learning the ropes on Photoshop, 3Ds Max and Bryce to express his creativity and find peace in his world.
“The complex brain disorder affects about 1 in a 100 or between 150,000 and 200,000 Australians. It usually begins in late adolescence or early adulthood and does not spare any race, culture, class or sex. Ten per cent of people with schizophrenia commit suicide.” - Via Better Health Vic
Jay has created the Indiegogo fine art exhibition to raise funds and awareness for people who suffer from Schizophrenia. 10% of each sale will be donated to help find a cure for Schizophrenia. He will be selling limited edition books and fine art prints starting at $1 up to $2449. To get involved and show your support visit:
