Thursday, September 24th, 2015 - MiSFIT GYM

A crowdfunding campaign has been launched for a gym designed for children with ASD. The gym will have a specialized three-part program involving Martial Arts, Mobility and Strength.

Australia - September 23 2015: Growing up as a parent of a child with Autism, Kyle Buttress felt he was constantly searching for ways to engage his son with the world. He had witnesses the benefits of exercise within Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) children but realised that it is difficult for these children to fit into a standard gym. That is how he came up with the concept of an ASD gym, that is designed to offer ASD children with a safe environment to participate in physical activities.

Move, Strong, Fit or MiSFIT will be the three main elements behind the ASD gym that will help build physical and mental confidence in the participants. There will be three distinct training areas in the MiSFIT program which are Martial Arts, Mobility and Strength.

“These activities will offer a way to formalise patterns and add structure that many ASD children will find comforting.” explains Kyle Buttress. “The Move, Strong, Fit paradigm is one that I feel will give them confidence in themselves and help them overcome a variety of situations.”

In order to help offset some of the costs associated with developing the Move Strong Fit Gym, Kyle Buttress officially launched a crowdfunding campaign on September 18. Through the help of the public, Kyle is confident that he will be able to reach his goal of $15,000 by the end of October and make his gym a reality.
