International Patent Protection Announcement
Paper technology company Papyrus Australia Limited (ASX:PPY) today announced early success in its endeavours to protect its banana paper technology and products through broad patent protection around the globe.
Papyrus Australia has received from the Australian Patent Office the results of the International Search Report relating to its International Patent Application PCT/AU2005/001410. The international examiners have provided a written opinion confirming that their international search failed to locate any earlier patents and/or prior art documents that can be considered to be relevant to the broad patent claims covering the Papyrus Australia invention, thus accepting that the total of the claimed subject matter, unamended, is both novel and inventive.
This is a very pleasing result and is a strong indication that broad patent protection will be obtained in many jurisdictions, Papyrus Australia Chairman David Wyatt said.
Papyrus Australias international patent application encompasses the machinery, processes, know-how and technology, as well as paper products resulting from application of the technology.
