New Partnerships Bring SGI's High Performance Computing Expertise to New Commercial Markets

MILPITAS, CA -- (Marketwired) -- Aug 18, 2015 -- SGI (NASDAQ: SGI), a global leader in high-performance solutions for compute, data analytics and data management, announced it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the "Niche Players" quadrant of the August 2015 Magic Quadrant for Integrated Systems.

According to Gartner, "many integrated system vendors will address a more narrow market niche, or they may be vendors whose market programs have not yet established their differentiation and/or execution ability. However, all vendors will have met the inclusion criteria and may address their specific market category with great effect."

"SGI is proud of our expertise in the high performance computing (HPC) market. We are able to leverage this expertise to bring the speed and scale of HPC to enterprise customers that look to combine the capabilities of an HPC system with the speed and flexibility necessary for today's environments where real-time data and in-memory analytics are increasingly important," said Jorge Titinger, president and CEO of SGI. "By strategically aligning ourselves with leading industry partners like SAP and Dell, we're able to rapidly expand our product footprint, while helping customers address today's business challenges."

The report notes that, "integrated system sales grew 30.4% over 2013, totaling $8.7 billion and constituting approximately 10% of all server, external controller-based storage and data center networking spend by the end of 2014." The market is expected to continue to grow in size and maturity as more vendors innovate with new technologies and expand their product offerings to meet the demands of new markets.
