From a mega-sized body, through to mind-storming robots, wine-tasting, Chinese music or architectural displays, the University of Adelaide’s Open Day on Sunday 16 August offers a unique view of one of Australia’s leading universities.

Potential students, friends and family and the general community are encouraged to come on campus between 9am and 4pm to see what the University of Adelaide has to offer, and get all their questions answered.

“Open Day is one of the University of Adelaide’s annual highlights and continues to be one of the main influencers behind student choice of study and university,†says Professor Philippa Levy, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Student Learning.

“Open Day gives students the opportunity to hear about courses first-hand from staff and current students, to see the facilities where they will be learning and to get a real taste of campus life. Despite all the online information, students still want to see and hear for themselves.

“We encourage all young people and their families to come along and hear about the unique learning environment at the University of Adelaide and to have all their questions answered.â€

A full schedule of talks will cover everything from subject areas, different pathways to the University and information for parents through to scholarships, accommodation and extra-curricular activities.

The Hub Central Expo will have staff on hand to answer questions and provide careers advice and information on topics such as international exchanges, student finance and support services.

Organised tours will provide the opportunity to see and hear about accommodation options, laboratory facilities, campus history, the Barr Smith Library, public art, the Museum of Classical Archaeology and the life of explorer Sir Douglas Mawson.

Current science students will reveal what their typical day holds with ‘A day in the life of a student’ tours designed and guided by the students.

Children will be well catered for with the Bright Sparks Science Club operating all day, and the Adelaide Compass ‘Race around Campus’ with treasures to be collected along the way – as well as a range of hands-on activities across the campus.

And for those wishing to just soak up the atmosphere, there will be a variety of music, cultural activities and food and drink.
