Invoking Italy's Traditions of Luxury and Craftsmanship, the Luxury Hotel Launches Its Red Afternoon Tea

KOWLOON, HONG KONG -- (Marketwired) -- Jul 06, 2015 -- Tosca at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong has long embodied the best of Italian culture and cuisine. And while its handmade pastas, seafood and steak have earned its Michelin star Chef Pino Lavarra much acclaim, Tosca is expanding its horizons with the new Red Afternoon Tea. For just four Saturdays in August, guests can indulge in delicacies and treats that are as exciting and artisanal as that other great Italian brand: Ferrari with its Ferrari Junior Collection*, a line created exclusively for Asia.

"Afternoon tea," Chef Pino notes, "is not a common tradition in Italy, and it's never before been served at Tosca. That's why our Red Afternoon Tea blends artisanal traditions with Italian gastronomy -- it had to be entirely original and dynamic to be a part of Tosca."

Named after a color that represents success and takes on a new meaning with the Ferrari Junior Collection, the Red Afternoon Tea distinguishes itself from others served at even the finest hotels in Hong Kong.

While Ferrari and other Italian goods demonstrate luxury, they equally demonstrate craftsmanship. The Ritz-Carlton brand adheres to an Art of the Craft philosophy, where artisan collaborations enhance the guest experience at this waterfront hotel in Hong Kong as well as at properties around the world. In this same tradition, the Red Afternoon Tea showcases a tantalizing selection of carefully crafted delicacies whose ingredients hail from Maranello, the same region that Ferrari S.p.A. calls home. It is also a region known for its Parma ham and parmesan cheese, both of which appear in the tea's grissini stick, parmesan pop and saffron rice wheel.

The other connection between Tosca's tea and Ferrari Junior Collection is even more obvious. The checkered flags, the faux wheels and the car key made from white chocolate all evoke the thrill that only Ferrari can inspire. They also demonstrate the creativity of Executive Pastry Chef Richard Long, who, along with Chef Pino and their teams, will prepare panna cotta with red berry compote, red fruit macarons, blood-orange sphere, strawberry pistachio tartlet and cannoli with raspberry mascarpone cream, all for this exclusive tea. For full menu, please refer to appendix.

The Red Afternoon Tea captures the elegance of The Ritz-Carlton, the luxury of Ferrari and the craftsmanship of a Michelin-starred culinary team. Priced at HK$480 per person, including a glass of NV Ferrari Brut Rosé, the Red Afternoon Tea is available on August 8, 15, 22 and 29, 2015 at Tosca, Level 102 of The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong. All prices are subject to 10% service charge. For reservations, please contact Restaurant Reservations at (852) 2263 2270 or via email [email protected].
