KITCHENER, ON -- (Marketwired) -- Jun 01, 2015 -- Environmental magazine Alternatives Journal ("A\J") is hosting a panel of experts in a roundtable discussion on how Canadian citizens can raise environmental and sustainability concerns in October's federal election. The roundtable will take place on Tuesday, June 2 at 10:30am at the University of Ottawa, as part of the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences annual conference (ajmag.ca/esac2015).

The roundtable will bring together experts from various fields, including elected officials, leading Canadian scholars and NGO leaders. Participants include Green Party leader Elizabeth May, NDP environment critic Megan Leslie, Liberal environment critic John McKay and Sierra Club national program director John Bennett.

The talk is the latest event in a cross-country tour that builds on themes explored in A\J's special issue, Canada's Map to Sustainability, a collaboration between the magazine and Sustainable Canada Dialogues/Dialogues pour un Canada vert, a group of over 60 scholars working to advance sustainability education, research and dialogue. Throughout the issue, the authors put forward viable, science-based sustainable solutions in each of their specialized fields, including agriculture, mining, urban planning, forestry, energy and public policy. Authors from the issue will be present at the panel. A\J will be collecting comments and feedback for later analysis.

Details and a full list of panel participants can be found at ajmag.ca/esac2015
