Tuesday, May 4th, 2010 - Technology Industry Association
Technology Industry Association (TIA) CEO, Steve Adcock today announced a merger between the TIA and the Computer Industry Association of SA (CIASA).

Established in 1997 the CIASA has been the umbrella organisation for best practice computer sales and services in South Australia. Personal computer affordability has lead to a rapid expansion of sales but an unclear code of ethics governing fair and honest services. For this reason the CIASA established a charter to improve business practices of computer wholesalers, retailers and professionals.

Until now CIASA had been operating without an office or paid staff and had struggled to implement its suite of services to member companies. The merger will enable CIASA to continue to provide the same services but within the framework of a well established Association that boasts seven full time staff, metropolitan premises and a leading edge interactive website.

As a result of the merger the TIA will now maintain CIASA’s ongoing charter to improve and maintain a code of ethics for those involved in computer sales in South Australia. Other services provided by CIASA such as a forum for members to keep up to date with the latest products and trends, exchange industry information and to lobby government will now be provided by the TIA. CIASA members will also receive the full range of services and benefits that are available to all TIA members.

Some of the computer retailers that have become TIA members as a result of the merger are: Secure PC Services, P.T's Computer Maintenance & Repairs, Outback Data & Communications P/L, Allneeds Computers Pty Ltd, Compusolve Pty Ltd, Evacom Computers Pty Ltd, Laptop World [Aust] Pty Ltd and Leader Computer Systems.

The merger means that a specialised TIA group within the TIA called the Computer Retail Group will be established. Its first meeting is scheduled for May 18th from 6.00pm – 8.00pm at 7 Glen Osmond Road, Eastwood. There is no charge to attend but bookings are essential and these can be made via the TIA website at www.tia.asn.au or by phoning the TIA on 08 8272 5222.
