Thursday, April 9th, 2015 - Two Rags Clothing

9 April, 2015 SYDNEY, AU - Two Rags today launched a new line of organic cotton women’s underwear that improves feminine hygiene for girls in need with each sale. Its online store (www.tworagsclothing.com) went live at midnight, and features hipster style briefs for sale within Australia. When someone purchases a product, Two Rags gives pre-cut materials for reusable cloth sanitary pads to an economically-disadvantaged girl in India through a partnership with India-based Eco Femme. Through this partnership, girls are taught how to sew their materials into pads during educational workshops, which also offer them a much-needed outlet to learn about topics like menstruation, health and sanitary products. The company hopes that by teaching girls to sew materials into pads, it empowers them with a sense of accomplishment, on top of giving them reusable sanitary products.

“It’s been two years in the making, so I’m happy we’re finally able to help girls in need,” said Phaemie Ng, Founder and mumpreneur. “Two Rags is a company with values like empathy and kindness at its core and I hope that we can make a tangible difference to these girls so they can reach their full potential.”

Before launch, the company has already given forward feminine hygiene to 60 girls from rural Tamil Nadu, India. Workshops run by partners are scheduled for mid-2015 once school exams conclude. The company joins the ranks of socially-responsible businesses that build in philanthropy into the business model to tackle social issues.
