Monday, March 30th, 2015 - Norfolk Island Travel Centre

Norfolk Island is hosting her first Ukulele Festival (Yuukalieli Festawel) 13-17 September 2015. Uke players and musicians of all levels of ability are invited from Australia and New Zealand to meet the locals who could just be the friendliest Uke Band on the planet, for a festival with a difference. Norfolk Island’s festival hinges on the island’s unique culture of the Bounty Pitcairn descendants, their language, traditional song and island dancing.

With spaces limited to the first 50 Ukulele players, this festival is sure to be a sell-out.

During the Festival players will enjoy playing at scenic locations, a boat trip on the Lagoon, in the historical area of the Penal settlements and on Norfolk’s only roundabout. Besides interesting workshops and Island rhythms, invitations will be given to perform at the Hospital, White Oaks, School, Churches and the local markets.

Not to mention Welcome & Farewell Dinners, a famous “Norfolk fish-fry”, Breakfast at Captain Cook’s Lookout, a “lunch & jam”, sing-a-longs; each country will also be invited to display their talents at the Ukulele Showcase night.
