37th Youth National Archery Championships

200 young archers from around the world aim straight in 5 days of competition

Sydney, Troy Adams Archery Field, Werrington (near Penrith), 7th - 11th April, 2015 –

Penrith City Archers will host the 37th Youth National Archery Championships at the Troy Adams Archery Field, near Penrith on behalf of Archery Australia.

The event has attracted an unprecedented number of competitors, both locally and from overseas. Penrith City Archers have registered a record 22 young archers, all taking home town advantage. While Archery NSW is providing its largest ever team with 91 young archers from clubs across NSW. The event regularly attracts a few international archers, however this year due to the central location and quality of the venue there are archers from New Zealand & Singapore registered. The Selangor School in Malaysia sending a record 17 young Archers.

Archers are aged between 10 – 20 years and shoot in Recurve, Compound, Barebow (no sights) & Longbow (traditional) divisions. Archers will competing in Target, Field (like golf in the bush) Match Play (elimination shoot off) & Clout (medieval style) events over 4 days.

The media are supported with a dedicated media access lane to get close to the action.

Gold, Silver & Bronze Medal rounds shot from 2:30pm on Friday 10th April – event organised & managed specifically for TV & Media.

Penrith City Archers is 51 years old, over the last two years has grown rapidly to grow from an average of 60 members to over 240 members currently. Penrith City Archers home the Troy Adams Archery Field is one of the only venues in Australia that can host a completion of this size at a single location.

As PCA’s membership has grown, a focus on developing and providing an opportunity for the clubs young archers has expressed its self through hosting the Youth National’s. With 22 members competing in the event, PCA has the largest representation of any club.
