Recycled Interiors is holding a reader event in partnership with Michael Hayes Furniture, and Barry Du Bois from the Living Room. The event aims to bring the community together to:
o Showcase how to use sustainable, recycled and salvaged timbers in your home, what to look for, where to look and how to use and finish timber
o Learn what kinds of timber are suitable for various DIY projects
o Understand the bespoke furniture and homewares industry, how to find people, why it is important and what you will find when buying from bespoke makers of furniture and homewares
o Find out how to utilize sustainable timbers for building projects in your home.

Check out our Wood Expo, where some brilliant woodworkers will be sharing their wares, which you can also buy on the day. Meet, mingle and learn all in a fab workshop environment! About Barry Du Bois
Barry Du Bois is an Interior Designer and Master Builder with over 30 years experience. As one of Australia’s best-loved TV personalities, Barry possesses the unique ability to communicate his professional knowledge on design, architecture, renovations and DIY to homeowners who are outside the building industry. His skill set encompasses everything in the home, from the kitchen bench to the garage, and he has a passion for educating and empowering people to transform their living spaces into something truly special. You can catch Barry on Channel Ten’s Friday night hit,The Living Room, where he heads up the ever-popular renovations segment alongside Amanda Keller, Chris Brown and Miguel Maestre. Barry also conducts regular home renovations segments on radio stations including Sydney’s 2GB and WSFM, and Brisbane’s 4BC, as well as running his own interior design and strategic planning consultancy service. Further to his work in TV and radio, Barry is an avid supporter of various charities that including the Cancer Council, R U OK? Day and the Salvation Army. Last year, Barry became a father for the first time to adorable twins, Arabella and Bennett. We are thrilled to have him join us on this very special first Recycled Interiors reader event.

Blogger, Stylist, Author , Wellbeing Expert & Charity Founder
Helen is the founder of Recycled Interiors. She encourages people to use a blend of sustainable, locally designed, upcycled and vintage pieces in decorating their homes. Helen curates, writes and creates most of the content, including images for the blog. A keen DIY’er, vintage lover and passionate advocate for human rights, sharing resources and saving our precious planet, Helen lives in Adelaide with her family and writes daily at Recycled Interiors, as well as offering her styling services, homewares store and creative workshops. She is a PhD Candidate and has published 2 ebooks, a children’s picture book, and has 2 mobile Apps due for release at the end of 2014.
Helen has recently featured in The Advertiser SA Weekend Magazine, Adelaide Matters, The Sunday Mail Home Magazine, the December 2014 edition of Australian House and Garden and the December 2014 edition of “Junkies Magazine”. She writes regularly for realestate.com.au and collaborates with a range of brands including Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan. She has also recently assisted Megan Morton Stylist on a shoot for Fete Press. She describes herself as a classic “slashie” and multi creative and has always been an op shop and vintage fanatic since her hippie parents introduced her to the magic of dusty second hand shops when she was just a little girl. Her own home is decorated in vintage, quality pieces and a few other items she has fallen in love with along the way. It is the blend of old and new that makes her heart skip a beat.
Helen says she is most importantly, the proud Mum of three sons. She has lived with type 1 diabetes since she was 12 years old and is permanently connected to an insulin pump. She founded an online counselling service and diabetes charity Diabetes Counselling Online, back in 2001 when there was no social media and people had no idea how email counselling could even work and is a highly respected part of the International diabetes field. She still manages this support service and blog.
