The rigorous six-day program was conducted in cooperation with Magnums Butlers International, an Australian-based world leader in training for private and hotel butlers, yacht stewards and flight attendants in August 2013. Twenty ladies and gentlemen from six of the hotel's departments secured seats in the program, which placed them well on their way to becoming southwestern China's first butlers.

Many of these sought-after individuals have honed their skills on Australia's Sunshine Coast under the tutelage of Magnums Butlers International. Among the areas of study required for aspiring butlers are personal grooming, multicultural sensitivity, protocol and traditional service methods -- the same curriculum used by Magnums to train attendants to the heads of state participating at the APEC Summit in Shanghai in 2001.

A former private butler to the royal family of Great Britain, Ms. Ive trained the program's 20 participants in a wide cross-section of fields necessary for world-class butlers to master, including the aforementioned grooming, protocol, multicultural sensitivity and traditional service methods as well as communication, etiquette and professional areas of interest such as cigars, caviar, fine wines and fashion. The training also covered in-depth instruction on providing butler service with a "modern twist" for today's modern guest. Having successfully completed the course, each graduate is now certified by Magnums and ready to provide a previously unavailable level of personal service for guests visiting this hotel in Chengdu, Sichuan China.
