This year’s MEGA Pitch Day sees six brand-new startups pitch in front of a panel of national, industry leaders for prizes of more than $30,000.
Supported by the South Australian Government and managed by Majoran coworking community, MEGA is a 12-week entrepreneurial program helping creative, technical and business teams develop new products and services for global markets, with a sustainable business model. Since 2006, it has produced top businesses which are expanding nationally and internationally.
On 21st November 2014, all teams will see their hard work validated when they pitch in front of industry peers and even potential investors.
Dr Andrew Dunbar is attending the event on behalf of Minister Gail Gago, Minister for Science and Information Economy.
This year’s judges will be Sydney-based venture-tech company Bluechilli’s advisor and full-time entrepreneur Colette Grgic, popular podcasting app Pocket Casts co-founder Russell Ivanovic and pioneering, international education company Insider Foundry’s James Martin.
The judges will see a range of innovative start-ups including a co-working app, health apps, and apps targeting the food and wine industry.
This year’s participant BO$$camp, a project startup that turns high schoolers to budding entrepreneurs, was grateful for the opportunity to learn from some of SA’s best entrepreneurs and business people.
“MEGA was an awesome experience and highly valuable in helping team BO$$camp fine-tune our startup. The mentors that we had access to were extraordinary and the advice was so timely at each stage of our development,” team leader of BO$$camp Sasha Dragovelic says.
MEGA program facilitator John Saldin says it is fantastic to see almost all teams are ready to commercialising their projects.
“MEGA is not like a normal course. It can be confronting when you have your idea criticised by mentors and the peers in the program. But to see the teams and participants develop and learn through the program is very rewarding,” Mr Saldin says.
