TORONTO, ON -- (Marketwired) -- Galtronics Corporation Ltd., a Baylin Technologies (TSX: BYL) company, announced today that it played an instrumental role in improving mobile coverage for cricket fans attending matches at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in Sydney, Australia.

The historic, 48,000-person venue was constructed over 160 years ago and holds a celebrated place in Australia's cricket history. Nearly every famous Australian cricketer has competed there, and some of its buildings are among the nation's historical and architectural treasures. The SCG's existing distributed antenna system (DAS), which was originally installed by Hutchison around 2001, had reached the end of its operating life and could not adequately accommodate the required performance for fast, high- capacity data traffic on modern 3G and 4G networks.

Galtronics antennas were selected to meet the technical requirements of a new, multi-operator, carrier-grade DAS. The proposed DAS needed to meet the individual requirements of Telstra, Vodafone and Optus and provide excellent overall performance for mobile coverage and capacity. This new system, which was installed in October 2013, makes the SCG the first stadium in Australia with a full MIMO Long Term Evolution (LTE) capable DAS.

"The approval of our antennas by leading Australian providers Telstra, Vodafone and Optus was a major milestone for us," said Ephraim Ulmer, President and CEO of Galtronics. "We are particularly pleased that the system relies solely on Galtronics antennas -- another testament to Galtronics' high quality, high-performance and technologically advanced LTE-enabled antenna products."

Galtronics, supported by Innovatel Australia, supplied the SCG with MIMO in-building antennas from its PEAR? product line, as well as its EXTENT? Stadium antennas for high-capacity venues. The DAS configuration is an eight-sector MIMO system that supports LTE at 1800 MHz and WCDMA 850 MHz, and is LTE-ready at 700/2600 MHz.

"Galtronics' ongoing innovation is demonstrated in our leading MIMO product portfolio, with its recent addition of the industry's first Narrow Beam 30/30? High Gain D5777i, which is being installed in various prestigious venues globally," said Ben Bar, Galtronics' Executive VP Sales and Marketing. "Our high-capacity venue product portfolio offers a full and complete product portfolio for this type of venue."

The DAS system at the SCG hosts all major Australian operators and was constructed in time to provide a dedicated coverage solution for 3G/4G mobile connectivity prior to the Commonwealth Bank Ashes Test cricket series between Australia and England. The system was also commissioned in time for the SCG to host Australia's first Major League Baseball games, featuring the Arizona Diamondbacks and the LA Dodgers, and providing fans the opportunity to access mobile services on their devices via the new high speed in-building system.
