MIPCOM, Cannes - (ACN Newswire) - Atlantyca IP Agency, the branch dedicated to the sales of Atlantyca Dreamfarm's extensive children's catalogue of publishing has optioned the television, licensing and merchandising rights to two of their popular children's book properties: A School for Pirates and Dinofriends to Singapore based producer, developer and distributor Hub Media Group for development into children's entertainment content. The announcement was made jointly by Lucia Geraldine Scott, IP Agency's Sales Manager, Atlantyca Entertainment and Kevin Balhetchet, CEO of Hub Media Group.

"Our objective has always been to find the right partners for the right property," said Scott. "Each of these two books features unique elements sustained by great characters, strong and creative writing, ripe for development into other children's branded content. Hub Media is a leader in the production of high-quality entertainment for young audiences of all ages, with a long-line of top rated children's programming to their credit. We are so excited to find the right home for the delightful A School for Pirates and the Dinofriends books and look forward to seeing Hub into taking these stories from the pages to the screen."

"Dinofriends and A School for Pirates have proven to be immensely popular in the European market and Hub Media is excited to be bringing these well-received literature to the rest of the world," says Kevin Balhetchet. "With high levels of recognition, fond characters and great storylines, Hub Media sees tremendous potential in developing these titles as content for children's animation as well as global brands. Most of all, we are excited to be working alongside Atlantyca Entertainment in bringing these beautiful illustrations to life."

Hub Media Group will produce an animated series based on the internationally popular 12 book series entitled A School for Pirates. This series, which is an original idea by Mario Pasqualotto and Pierdomenico Baccalario and beautifully illustrated by Stefano Turconi, tells the story of a Pirates' School, which is the only place in the world where crews of future buccaneers are trained. However, the Sea Pups, the five "freshboys" from first grade, are recognized most for being experts in disaster. Their missions vary from searching for sunken treasures to boarding rich galleons, but always result in humorous fails. The five wannabe pirates consistently risk wrecking ships or possible expulsion from the school for the pursuit of new adventures. The book series sold more than 100,000 copies in Italy. Published by the DeAgostini Group, to date, the books have been translated into Greek, Spanish, Catalan, Brazilian, Portuguese, Dutch, Turkish, Simplified Chinese, Indonesian, Hungarian and Thai.

Hub Media also optioned Atlantyca IP Agency's Dinofriends, for animated series development and production to include licensing and merchandising initiatives for the property. Dinofriends is a series of 8 hilarious books written by Andrew Pau and with the colorful illustrations of Erika De Pieri. It encompasses adventures and laughs between two close friends, Moomu, the nerdy purple dinosaur, and Rottotum, the cave boy "little pest" who saved him, all set in a prehistoric world full of fun. Both share experiences and amazing adventures, using prehistoric wisdom and their different life experiences for survival, only to learn that happiness is key. The first titles released sold more than 20,000 copies with translation rights secured for Spanish, Catalan, Serbian, Turkish, Chinese and Portuguese.

Established in 2013, Atlantyca IP Agency's extensive library of children's publishing content is comprised of concepts developed by Atlantyca's own creative writing and production team, a synergy of ideas cultivated from the company's various divisions. The Atlantyca IP Agency's catalogue also features many of the properties stemming from the Dreamfarm acquisition in 2010, a prominent Milan-based designer and developer of children's books, which resulted in the creation of Atlantyca Dreamfarm.
