The University of Adelaide has appointed leading higher education academic, Dr Susie Khoo, as CEO and Dean of the Ngee Ann-Adelaide Education Centre in Singapore.

Dr Khoo is currently Dean and Senior Vice-President at PSB Academy, one of the largest private education institutions in Singapore. She will commence her new role in early December.

The Ngee Ann-Adelaide Education Centre (NAA), established in 1998, is a joint venture partnership between the Ngee Ann Kongsi and the University of Adelaide. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in nursing, business, project management, computer science, education and entrepreneurship.

Professor Christopher Findlay AM, Executive Dean, Faculty of the Professions, said that the appointment came at an important time for the Centre and would be critical for building the University of Adelaide’s contribution to Singapore and in the Asian education market.

“The University of Adelaide has enjoyed a long and productive relationship for over a decade with the Ngee Ann Kongsi,” said Professor Findlay. “Given our bold internationalisation strategy, as part of the University’s long-term vision for the future, having a well-established presence in the region has enormous benefits for students and staff alike.

“We very much welcome the news that Dr Khoo will take up the role to lead the Centre,” said Professor Findlay. “She is a senior figure in the tertiary education sector in Singapore and my colleagues in Adelaide and I look forward to working with her on the next stage of the centre’s development.”

Dr Khoo said she is looking forward to joining the Ngee Ann-Adelaide Education Centre.

“My focus is very much on enhancing teaching and learning quality,” Dr Khoo said. “I am keen to work with the staff in Singapore and Adelaide to explore new opportunities to extend the education platform and deliver a unique learning experience for both local and visiting staff and students,” she said.

Dr Khoo started her teaching career in the public schools in 1990 before moving into private higher education in 1996. Her interests are in economics and applied research which she has taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

She holds a Doctor of Business Administration from the University of Newcastle, a Master of Social Sciences (Applied Economics) and a Bachelor of Arts (Economics and English Language) from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Western Sydney. She gained her Graduate Diploma in Education from the National Institute of Education, Singapore.
