*Approx. 125 world leaders or their special envoys are scheduled to attend the Ban Ki-moon summit, making it one of the largest international leaders' gatherings ever. The summit is a key part of the build-up to the crucial COP21 UN climate talks to be held in Paris in December 2015, aiming to achieve a new legally binding universal agreement to cut carbon pollution. Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has declined to attend or send a special envoy, however Australia will be represented by Foreign Minister Julie Bishop.
