Burns expert and former Australian of the Year, Winthrop Professor Fiona Wood AM, will deliver the University of Adelaide's prestigious Annual Florey Lecture at 6.00pm on Wednesday 24 September.

This free public lecture is named in honour of University of Adelaide graduate and Nobel Prize winner Lord Howard Florey, arguably Australia's greatest medical graduate.

Professor Wood received the Order of Australia Medal (AM) for her work with the 2002 Bali bombing victims. She was named 2005 Australian of the Year for this work and for her pioneering development of "spray-on skin" cell technology for use in treating burns victims.

She is Director of the Western Australia Burns Service and Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Princess Margaret and Royal Perth Hospitals.

The Annual Florey Lecture is hosted by the Florey Medical Research Foundation.
