Seminyak, Bali – UPSTAIRS AT JENJA, the latest ultra-stylish restaurant to grace Seminyak’s dining scene, introduces its new and inspired menu that showcases the delectable Middle Eastern dishes by Top Chef Middle East 2012, chef Selma AbuAlia. Enhanced by Jenja’s ultra stylish interiors, Chef Selma’s latest creations appeal to patrons regular and new, using fresh and organic ingredients to create simple and delicate combinations into various works of culinary art, and promising a unique elegant dining experience not to be missed in Bali.
Chef Selma’s new menu at UPSTAIRS AT JENJA introduces tasty starters, with salads comprising a Chickpea & Pumpkin Salad with crispy beetroot chips, bell pepper coulis, with crumbled feta cheese and lemon thyme oil. There’s also the Orange & Green Bean Salad with the fresh orange segments and blanched green beans folded in a date and shallot vinaigrette with warm crusted goat’s cheese. The bulgur chicken and cucumber salad is a perfectly cooked large couscous with cucumber, mixed herbs, a yoghurt dill sauce and topped with grilled za’tar chicken breast.

Chef Selma only incorporates high quality ingredients in her creations, comprising premium meat cuts, poultry and fresh seafood. These manifest in the choices of Lamb Samosas, pastries filled with a savoury minced lamb and pine nut mixture, and with a side of chili tahini dip. The moussaka, a lightly grilled eggplant topped with pungent Arabic spiced minced beef and tomato sauce is a favourite, as is the Lamb kefta with cauliflower and potatoes in a tahini sauce. Braised Pork Belly Buns lean to the Western Asia side as tempting steamed buns filled with slices of 4-hour braised pork belly, lettuce and shallot relish. The poultry selections of Chicken Fateh, Pan Seared Duck in a Bun and the Grilled Chicken Shawarma are also tasty must-tries.

The UPSTAIRS AT JENJA menu also features seafood and vegetarian selections, such as deep-fried red snapper served with cauliflower puree, ripe tomato salsa and spiced crispy onions, or the fresh crab cake topped with creamy avocado lime mousse and edible flowers. Charcoal-grilled fresh prawns, brushed and served with a garlic coriander butter are a sumptuous treat, and a unique presentation comes in the form of the Satay Lettuce Wrap – charcoal-grilled fish satay with cucumber and sour mango sauce, homemade cashew soy dip and a dash of yellow Japanese mustard, all wrapped in crispy lettuce, which you slide off in the wrap to relish it as a whole. Deep-Fried Red Snapper with cauliflower puree and rich tomato salsa, or Fish Kebab served with pesto cream and red chili sambal also provide seafood lovers a treat.

While vegetarians may opt for the delectable mixed Hummus Mezze, a wholesome serving of baba ganoush, walnut, carrot and olive dip with roasted paprika and warm pita bread. Deep-fried samosas filled with Indian spiced potatoes and peas, with a side of cucumber mint yoghurt, offer a Western Asian option, together with the potato cakes served with homemade fresh sour cream, and the tasty zucchini fritters. Sharing options not to miss when indulging at UPSTAIRS AT JENJA with family or a circle of friends is the Middle Eastern Surprise - slow roasted leg of lamb marinated in coffee, cardamom, date and couscous salad, served with sautéed mushrooms and a dash of lamb jus. Another sharing option is Glazed Pork Loin – succulent pieces of pork loin glazed with ginger and cranberry, garlic roasted potatoes, blanched bok choy with a peanut miso sauce.

Rice and noodle dishes are also featured in the new menu at UPSTAIRS AT JENJA, comprising Fasoulieh Baida, cannellini beans in a hearty tomato curry, served with fragrant oriental rice. There’s also a Chicken & Tomato Stew with oven roasted sweet potato, peas and carrots, Oriental Basmati rice infused with cardamom and clove, toasted nuts, raisins and caramelized onion, pan seared barramundi fillet in a ratatouille curry, served with rice or flat bread, and an Arabian Seafood Curry of seafood in a rich tomato, shredded carrot and coconut cream curry, served with rice or naan bread. For Oriental pleasures there is the Pork Belly Ramen, a miso soup with ramen noodles and poached egg, and the delectable XO Fried Rice with Hong Kong XO sauce.

Concluding your culinary journey of Middle Eastern flavours at UPSTAIRS AT JENJA is either a tropical spiced tiramisu with passion fruit jelly and sesame rice cracker, or an Orange Blossom & Honey Pudding with apricot jelly and walnut cinnamon crumble. The Semolina Doughnut Ball with rosella syrup and chocolate mousse is another sweet sensation, while the Chocolate Lollipops filled with your choice of banana, strawberry or chocolate cheese cake add to the delights. For this high quality selection of cuisine, the menu is surprisingly reasonably priced. Most items are under the IDR 100,000 mark, while the sharing options range between IDR 250,000 to 450,000.
