The University of Adelaide Law School’s flagship public lecture, the John Bray Oration, will this year be delivered by the Honourable Dr Margaret White AO, on Wednesday 24 September.

The recently retired Judge will reflect on her long and varied career to present a captivating free public lecture on pro bono (free) legal services.

Dr White studied law at the University of Adelaide and was the first woman appointed to the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1992. She was subsequently appointed to the Queensland Court of Appeal in 2010 and retired in 2013.

Dr White has also been a Commander in the Royal Australian Navy Reserve, Deputy President of the Defence Force Discipline Appeals Tribunal and Deputy Chancellor of the University of Queensland.
In 2013 she was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia and earlier this year, she was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws (honoris causa) from the University of Adelaide.
