Norfolk Island’s first Food Festival will be held 25-28 November. ‘Taste Norfolk Island’ will celebrate Norfolk’s seasonal and sensational paddock to plate produce where all fresh food is grown from rich Norfolk Island soil or plucked from the clear South Pacific Ocean.
Once visitors arrive on Norfolk Island they soon realise all food is grown seasonally and largely organically on this small resourceful island. Fresh produce tastes how it “used to taste” or for some like something they’ve not tasted before.

Organisers proclaim this first Food Festival won’t disappoint foodies looking to experience the true palette of Norfolk Island.  Fruit and vegetables are grown on island, in season and picked each day. There are over 30 places to eat out many of which grow their own produce and look to their garden for dish of the day inspiration. Add to that mix the local fish which can only be described as divine, local beef and pork and small boutique products such as coffee, honey and cheese with an atmosphere of a friendly food festival featuring experienced local chefs and visiting Celebrity Chefs such as Fast Ed you have a culinary experience not to be missed!

Timed to coincide with Thanksgiving Day an island celebration and tradition passed down from the American Whalers the Food Festival program includes a colourful church service followed by a ‘Thanksgiving Day’ feast in the Kingston Compound. The banquet will specially feature island style and traditional dishes. Enjoy the feast with live entertainment, and Guest Chef ‘Fast Ed’ in a relaxed atmosphere.

‘Fast Ed’ Ed Halmagyi is one of Australia’s best-loved TV chefs and food authors.  Fast Ed will also be joined by guest chef, author and TV Presenter Dominique Rizzo.

Norfolk has a unique beauty of its own, with its renowned tall majestic pines, sheer cliff faces, coral reefs and beautiful beaches. Almost one third of the island is devoted to National Parks and Reserves. But Norfolk Island is far more than a picturesque island in the South Pacific, it is paradise with a past. What was once a convicts’ nightmare is now the tranquil home of the descendants from the Mutiny on the Bounty, who have their own unique culture and their own language. There is much to see and do on Norfolk Island: fascinating historic tours, see Kingston which is a World Heritage Listed area, outdoor re-enactments of the Bounty Mutiny (with parts played by actual descendants of Fletcher Christian), ‘Light and Sound’ shows, eco-tours, glass bottom boat coral reef trips, swimming, snorkeling, fishing, dining out in the numerous fine restaurants, bush walking, scenic horse riding, golf on what has been called the world’s most beautiful golf course, bowls, tennis, and squash. Take advantage of Norfolk's tax-free shopping or perhaps simply take some time out to relax and enjoy Norfolk's peaceful existence.
