We agonise over it, try to avoid it, and question ourselves every time we have an unconventional idea that pushes the boundaries, but the truth is no great success was ever achieved without failure.
It may be a cringe worthy failure or a series of ongoing failures that test our patience and persistence, such as Edison’s 10,000 attempts to create a light bulb or Dyson’s 5,126 attempts to invent a bag less vacuum cleaner.
But, whether we like it or not, failure is a necessary stepping stone to achieving our dreams.
The Australian Institute of Management will this month be hosting an event in which four inspirational young professionals will discuss how they have overcome challenges to achieve success in their chosen field.
Speaking at the exclusive AIM event will be:
Lily Jacobs, General Manager Renew Adelaide, Board Member at Economic Development Board of South Australia
Harry Schiff, Principal Venture Catalysts, Founder & CEO Agent Anything
Leila Henderson, CEO NewsMaker, Director at MGM Wireless, President PRIA SA
Will Snow, Senior Associate Minter Ellison
Each of these high achieving leaders have experienced their fair share of setbacks but it is how they have dealt with those setbacks that has set them on their own path to success.
AIM South Australia State Manager Mark Kirchner FAIM has said the event will be a great opportunity for aspiring young professionals to gain career insights from a very accomplished group of speakers.
“I am delighted to welcome such an impressive panel to this exclusive event and I am sure that their career stories will have tremendous value for those attending,” Mr Kirchner said.
“All of us experience highs and lows in our careers and the opportunity to hear how each speaker has negotiated the pitfalls of professional life will provide attendees with some insights that they will be able to apply in their own careers.”
Attendees will also have the opportunity to mingle with the speakers after the event and meet other professionals from a range of industries while enjoying tasty canapés from the in-house AIM Chef, and drinks from Event Partners, Penley Estate and McLaren Vale Beer Company.
