Having achieved a stellar career in just a short amount of time, local businesswoman Sarah Farhat is sharing her experiences with aspiring Travel Consultants, to help them get their foot in the door of the competitive travel industry.
Sarah started her career with Flight Centre as a Travel Sales Consultant in a boutique store in Sydney, and within 18 months she was managing that same store! Flash forward a year and a half later and Sarah was managing a mega store, and just 18 months after that she was managing all of the stores in her area.
A thirst for learning and development is what initially led Sarah to a career at Flight Centre:
“I’d heard about how good the internal training program was, and when I joined the program was excellent. This has continued to evolve over time to become a world class offering!
The opportunity for professional development was also a drawcard for me, and although I chose leadership, there are so many other professional pathways that you can take including support roles and training roles. ”
Currently looking for ambitious new recruits in her area, Sarah has some advice for any prospective Travel Sales Consultant:
“Be open to a pretty big learning curve, the learning never stops, no matter how long you have worked for Flight Centre you will still learn new things all the time. The best way to succeed in this role is to let your passion for travel come through every day – you will be helping people make their dreams come true.
If you can do this, the rewards are unlike any other workplace with unbelievable reward and recognition initiatives as well as trips overseas for hitting your sales targets.
You’ll also be joining a highly supportive environment where your colleagues and leaders are there backing you every step of the way on the pathway to success.”
