Friday, July 11th, 2014 - Germein Sisters

Travel loving and energetic Adelaide based pop/folk/rock sister band the GERMEIN SISTERS - Clara, Ella and Georgia Germein are brushing off the snow from their latest adventure of a National Tour of New Zealand, and are now preparing to take their music to Adelaide's sister city Qingdao, Shandong Province, in China.

The girls have been invited by The Australia China Development Company, led by the Hon Chris Schacht and Mr. Conan Fahey to perform at their gala dinner in Qingdao in August, and look forward to a number of other performances in Beijing, Shandong and during the International Beer Festival (attracts over 4 million people worldwide).

The multi instrumentalist sisters Georgia (lead vocals, guitar, piano, songwriting), Ella (electric cello, bass guitar, backing vocals) and Clara (drums, guitar, backing vocals) have been busy touring their debut album "Because You Breathe" which was recorded in Ireland with producer Billy Farrell (The Corrs), receiving significant recognition internationally.

Their original song 'How Can I Close My Eyes' was named as one of the three finalists in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition 2014 (New York), and another original song "Time, Time Go Away" a semi finalist in the International Songwriting Competition (USA). Georgia's song 'Take My Hand' was selected by SA Tourism as part of its international online marketing campaign, which was played around the world.

The Australia China Development Company  Chairman The Hon. Chris Schacht , Cristina Tridente, the Adelaide Fashion Festival Coordinator and couture+love+madness designer and Australia China Youth Association representative Claire Bunten, the daughter of HE Ms Frances Adamson Australian Ambassador to the People's Republic of China will accompany the Germein Sisters to Beijing and then to Qingdao.

With much of the Germein Sisters' family being Yorke Peninsula farmers who grow the malting barley which is exported to China to make the beer, it seems a perfect fit that the girls will share their music at the International Beer Festival.

A special event, “Music + Fashion, Qingdao Sister City Performance Preview” is to be held on Wednesday July 2nd at The Promethean, in 116 Grote St, Chinatown 6pm-9pm where South Australians can support the efforts of SA based Music + Fashion. Tickets available at
