HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA -- (Marketwired) -- Grupo Gallegos, a creatively driven independent advertising agency, is pleased to announce that Graham Davis, junior copywriter, and Annick Hernandez, junior graphic designer, will be competing in the Cannes Young Lions competition this month.

Davis and Hernandez, of the Grupo Gallegos creative team, entered Circulo Creativo's Young Creatives Contest and were selected as winners in the Film category. The judge's panel this year was comprised of creatives from outside the U.S. Hispanic market. Winners were announced on May 5th.

The Young Creatives Contest prize includes travel and registration fees for entry into the Cannes Young Lions contest, which runs June 15-21. The Grupo Gallegos creative duo will represent the US Hispanic market in the Cannes Young Lions Film category. Winners will be announced on the last day of festival.

This year's Circulo Creativo's Young Creatives Contest tasked creative teams to develop a video campaign for La Cocina VA, a non-profit organization that generates job opportunities for the unemployed through job training in the hospitality and food service industries.

"La Cocina VA is honored to have been part of the creative process that developed advertising pieces that will promote and communicate our mission to help unemployed Hispanics obtain career certification and job opportunities in the culinary business," said Paty Funegra, founder and CEO of La Cocina VA.

Davis and Hernandez's video features a close-up shot of what appears to be someone plating a high-end dish, but the ingredients are revealed to be a dishwasher's tools (a sponge, scouring pad, and detergent). The campaign calls attention to the many Latinos who work low-paying restaurant jobs and challenges the status quo with the ending title card, which reads, "The kitchen doesn't have to be a dead-end. Change a life. Donate today."

"We want to thank Grupo Gallegos and its young creative professionals that participated in generating energy and unique ideas for the launching of La Cocina VA's next crowd-founding campaign to support its fundraising efforts to transform lives within the Hispanic community," Funegra concluded.
