Saturday, March 27th, 2010 - The Frontier Group
Perth-based web design and development team, The Frontier Group, has just announced sponsorship of the Ruby Summer of Code project.

The Ruby Summer of Code is a student internship program, modelled after Google’s Summer of Code, designed to help fund student development of Ruby web coding projects over the Summer of 2010.

Adam Fitzgerald, from The Frontier Group, said the project was an opportunity for his company to ensure new talent is coming forward in this area of web development.

“Our core focus at The Frontier Group is building Ruby on Rails applications for startups through to big businesses. The community needs talented Rubyists and this is just one way of sponsoring the cause,” Adam said.

Student applications for the Ruby Summer of Code open on April 5th to April 23rd 2010. Accepted students are matched with mentors and will have two months to complete their summer projects.

“The Ruby Summer of Code is an exciting program to be part of. It is great for The Frontier Group to be part of a project that helps get students engaged in Ruby development and the Ruby community,” Adam added.
