RN Breakfast is essential listening for a national audience seeking an intelligent and informed start to the day. The program covers politics through to arts.
“I have had a long history with the ABC,” said Ellen. “It is great to be back, especially to be fronting such a significant morning program. I have enormous respect for Fran Kelly and RN, and am excited to be joining the show.”
Ellen Fanning is an esteemed journalist with a number of significant credits to her name. At the age of 24 she became the first woman to host PM, one of ABC Radio’s national current affairs programs. She has served as the ABC’s Washington correspondent, a reporter on 60 Minutes and presenter of the Sunday program.
More recently she was the presenter of SBS TV’s long form interview series The Observer Effect. She has also been a columnist for The Bulletin.
“It was hard to find the right person to present RN Breakfast, but with Ellen in the chair, expect the same hard-hitting journalism from RN’s breakfast program,” said Deborah Leavitt , RN’s Acting Manager. “Ellen’s wealth of experience and her solid reputation as a current affairs journalist will be right at home at RN.”
From Monday 9 June RN’s James Carleton will take the seat as presenter of RN Breakfast. As a daily voice on the program, James is a familiar presence to listeners. James has been with RN Breakfast for the past 7 years. He has also reported for ABC TV’s 7:30 and written for The Sydney Morning Herald.
Ellen Fanning will present RN Breakfast from Tuesday 22 April to Friday 6 June and James Carleton
will present from Monday 9 June to Monday 4 August. RN Breakfast is broadcast daily from 6.00–9.00am on RN.
Fran Kelly will be hosting Insiders from Sunday 27 April to Sunday 3 August 2014, while Barrie Cassidy is on long service leave.
Insiders is simulcast at 9.00am on Sundays on ABC1 and ABC News 24 and repeated at 8.00pm AEDT on ABC News 24 on the same day. The Insiders Broadcast can also be heard at 11.00am AEDT on ABC NewsRadio.
