Maddy The Mermaid, Book 1:
Maddy the Mermaid was a very happy little girl. She lived deep in the kelp forest in the ocean off the coast of California. She had lots of friends around her home, but her best friend was a sea otter named Oscar.
Oscar loved to fish for clams. He would dive to the ocean floor, pick up some clams and then swim back up to the surface. There he would lie on his back, sunbathing and opening his clams. Oscar and Maddy made a great team because Oscar liked to eat clams and Maddy liked to collect pretty shells. Oscar would open his clams, feasting on the tasty food and then give the clam shells to Maddy.
