LOCAL Perth musicians are banding together for a night of original music at the Fly by Night Club on March 15 to help those devastated by the Parkerville bushfires in January.
From 7.30pm, Leah Miche, Matt Cal, Tashi and MOKYM will provide an eclectic mix of music ranging from folk and roots through to blues and rock, culminating in a performance by surf rock outfit From the Dunes, hot on the heels of their recent Big Day Out performance.
All are donating their time for the event, put together to raise ongoing funds to help with the recovery, re-building, clean-up and day-to-day living expenses of people affected by the bushfires in Parkerville and surrounding Perth Hills suburbs. All profits from door sales will go directly to helping families.
Merchandise from some of Australia’s leading and much-loved artists, including Eskimo Joe, John Butler, San Cisco, and Diesel, will form part of a silent auction on the night. Many of the items are personally signed by the artists and are expected to become collectors’ items.
Event organiser Steven Taylor said: “Having seen the tragedy unfolding live and witnessing the aftermath first-hand, it was the least I could do to help out.
“The response from the music community has been overwhelming with other concerts and events being staged as well. This is our way of showing we care and support those affected.”
Pre-purchased tickets are $20 (including booking fee) and $25 at the door (if available on the night). Tickets are available from the Fly by Night box office and or at http://flybynight.org/event/firefly.
Children under 18 can only be admitted if accompanied by a legal guardian on the night – check the Fly by Night website for details.
Hot on the heels of their Big Day Out gig, Perth band From the Dunes will be playing at Firefly on March 15, a fundraiser to help those affected by the recent Perth Hills fires.
