This week, more than 100 Not-For-Profit (NFP), Corporate, Government and Philanthropic organisations gathered at Sydney’s prestigious waterfront venue Dockside Cockle Bay to attend the inaugural Impact Measurement Awards gala dinner. The event recognised the contribution of organisations that measure their social impact.
Social impact measurement is an emerging area for NFP’s, Government, Corporate and Philanthropic organisations. It focuses on the unique methodologies adopted to assess the impact of their contributions to society.
The dinner, hosted by Criterion Conferences and Social Impact Measurement Network Australia (SIMNA), recognised organisations making inspiring progress with their impact measurement across four categories: Small Not- For-Profit, Not-For-Profit, Government, Corporate or Philanthropic Organisation, and Corporate/Not-For-Profit partnership.
A judging panel including Bessi Graham, CEO and Co-Founder of The Difference Incubator and Chair of SIMNA, Simon Faivel, Senior Consultant for Social Ventures Australia and Amanda Bartley, National Director Corporate Responsibility for PwC selected the winning organisations:
Small Not-For-Profit: Linkwest
Not-For-Profits: Anglicare WA
Government, Corporate or Philanthropic Organisation: Santos GLNG
Corporate/ Not-For-Profit Partnership: The Good Shepherd Microfinance and NAB
Desiree Nangle, Evaluation Project Manager from Anglicare WA, said “The best advice I was given and would pass on is to start with what you have. Trying to do everything perfectly from the beginning is both time-consuming and futile. Outcomes measurement is an ongoing journey that will, and should, constantly evolve.”
Social Impact Measurement is a recognised performance benchmark for many organisations across Australia.
