Western Australian filmmakers will have the opportunity to create a five-minute documentary on a WA-based visual artist for ABC Arts Online, thanks to a new initiative launched by the ABC and ScreenWest.

Two person Producer-Director teams aged under 35, who have professionally produced short-form credits (i.e. music videos, television commercials or corporate films) and not more than two broadcast documentary credits, are eligible to apply for this initiative. Up to five teams will be selected to produce one short documentary each. The successful Producer-Director teams will be invited to nominate the WA-based visual artists (working in mediums including but not limited to painting, video art, installation, performance, sculpture, drawing) they would most like to profile from a short-list of names pre-selected by ScreenWest and ABC Arts. ScreenWest and the ABC will then allocate subjects to the teams.

ScreenWest and the ABC have appointed accomplished arts related television series producer and short-form television director Brendan Hutchens to mentor the selected Producer-Director teams.

Applicants must be available for production from 21 April – 30 June 2014.

Applications close 5:00pm, 10 March 2014.
